Excelent Work!! And I am jealous about the names: Kai, Tek, Kal, etc, so simple and beautiful words. I am not a skilled map designer, but I am working in a fantasy novel and need in order tu build the story. But I'm having a headache with distances. I am working in a scale in which 2 cm are 100 km , but that relation must change depending the latitude. Any Advice? The lines in your map are saying that the island of KAL is a pole? Greetings!

thanks :) the names were invented by my client who is building a complete world and thought this all over. The map is not linked to a specific position on a globe, or projection. The lines are not grids but (decorative, not exact) rhumb lines, used on maps for navigation. To determine exact distances on your map, this depends bascially on the size of the area (or do you have a complete globe?) you want to depict, and the projection you used for your map. So I cannot say some generals things about that without more details. To get some insight in how this works I recommend you check out [link]. cheers!

I'm not an artist, I'm an author. I have a creative writing workshop I'm about to launch with my agent, Terrie Wolf of AKA Literary Agency. The presentation is very unique, very "creative," and requires a map. Once the workshop starts generating money I would like to redo the map I have made. If you are willing to work it up for me, what would you charge?

(Needless to say, I love your map!)

this map is supposed to be in the Earth or on what kind of celestial body? I cannot judge the climate from the map, no latitude indication etc.

I'm sorry but I'm not sure where on what planet it is located (my client provided me with an outline and terrain). More details on the world can be found at the draconspire campaign site

I've seen that technique on older style maps, where the graticules come from various on-map points. Do you know what the history of that method is?

They are called Rhumb Lines and used for navigational purposes. On this map it's more decorative then accurate. For technical details you can check out wiki. cheers
